FAQ
Retail activation, answered
The questions brands and retailers ask most often about activating store staff.
What is retail activation software?
Retail activation software helps a consumer brand reach, train and motivate the store staff who sell its products, including staff employed by third-party retailers. It covers product training, campaign rollout, execution proof from the shop floor, and the sell-out data that shows whether the activity worked. It differs from workforce management, which schedules a retailer’s own employees, and from a learning management system, which delivers courses to people the company employs.
How do brands train store staff they do not employ?
The brand cannot use the retailer’s internal systems, so it needs a platform both sides agree to run on. The retailer grants access to its store teams, the brand supplies training and campaign content, and each side sees the results for its own scope. In practice this means short mobile lessons in the local language, delivered before a launch, with completion and sell-out reported back to both the brand and the retailer.
What is the difference between sell-in and sell-out?
Sell-in is what a brand ships to its retail partners. Sell-out is what those partners actually sell to shoppers. Most brands can see sell-in precisely and sell-out barely at all, because the data sits with the retailer. The gap between the two is where retail activation earns its return: staff who know the product sell more of it, and the sell-out number is what proves it.
How does Atobi work for both brands and retailers at the same time?
Atobi runs as one platform with two paying customers on the same store floor. A retailer uses it to enable staff across every brand it carries and to turn that reach into a revenue line. A brand uses it to reach those same staff inside retailers it does not own. Each side sees its own scope, and Atobi sees the activation and sell-out data that neither side can see alone.
